Magic Software Attempts to Make
Generating .NET Code Easier

The newest edition of the uniPaaS application platform from Magic Software Enterprises aims to make it easier to generate .NET code, thanks to its "metadata engine," which lets users bypass code writing.

uniPaaS 1.8 makes it possible for organizations "to build and deploy business applications and deploy from the same code base on any mode, including full client, Rich Internet Applications (RIA), mobile, and SaaS," says Regev Yativ, president and CEO of Magic Software Enterprises Americas.

The upgrade includes .NET integration across PC and mobile clients. Based on metadata rather than hard code, the product requires the use of fewer technologies to work. It lets users build and deploy client/server RIAs, including mobile and SaaS applications, faster and with fewer mistakes, according to Yativ.

uniPaas provides an end-to-end environment for software development, all covered by the same code base. It includes a library of prewritten "building blocks" of code to assemble applications. The product makes it possible for companies to create applications that can run in multiple deployment modes.

"This means that developers can evolve their application portfolios from a client/server architecture to a RIA or SaaS solution, as the situation demands, without losing a single line of business logic," Yativ notes.

Targeted at enterprises, ISVs, and system integrators, uniPaaS 1.8 counts adidas Canada, Minerva Associates, Allstate, RitzCamera, Fiskars Brands, Connecticut Business & Industry Association, and Western Dental among its customers.

Competitors, or peers, according to Yativ, include Adobe AIR, Microsoft Silverlight, JavaFX, and LongJump.

An RIA end-user deployment license for 50 users is priced at approximately $15,000.
