3E Company Introduces New Version of MSDgen SDS Authoring System

02.12.2015

3E Company, a leading provider of environmental health and safety (EH&S) compliance and information management services, today announced the immediate availability of MSDgen® 6.55, the latest version of its safety data sheet (SDS) authoring system. The new release includes numerous enhancements aimed at simplifying global hazard communication initiatives, including expanded regulatory information for Indonesia’s and the Philippines’ adaptations of the United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System for the Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) and the European Union’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation. 3E Company is a Verisk Analytics (Nasdaq:VRSK) business.

MSDgen 6.55 fully aligns with the EU’s REACH Annex II requirements, which necessitate a new SDS format starting June 1, 2015. The new format reflects classification, labeling, and packaging (CLP) only, eliminating the dangerous substances directive (DSD)/dangerous products directive (DPD) details present in the hybrid version. Working closely with regional specialists, 3E Company has extended MSDgen to support the new Indonesia and Philippine GHS regulations. The latest version supports those authorities, as well as Russia’s Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which issued five new “GOST” (state) standards for classification and labeling of chemicals based on the fourth revised edition of the UN’s GHS, effective August 1, 2014.

In addition to the new regulatory updates, MSDgen 6.55 offers a number of new product features, including formulation range processing for GHS health and environment classifications that improves how ingredient ranges are handled. In cases where a proportion range is indicated, MSDgen now pulls the highest concentration of each ingredient instead of using the mean to determine the GHS health and environmental hazard effects.

“The latest version of MSDgen demonstrates our commitment to providing in-house EH&S, R&D, and product stewardship professionals with the tools needed to effectively manage the complexities of producing and maintaining globally compliant and reliable hazard communication documentation,” said Clark D. VanScoder, vice president, Authoring Software and Services, 3E Company. “These updates are designed to improve productivity while giving customers the ability to adapt their SDS authoring to the specific regulations affecting their businesses.”

MSDgen 6.55 is available immediately.
