CENTRALITE INTRODUCES JILIA THE SIMPLEST AND FASTEST PATH TO IoT CONNECTIVITY

10.13.2015

CentraLite Systems, a leading provider of products that enable a connected world, introduces Jilia, a cloud-based IoT framework that allows developers to create IoT connectivity between smart devices faster and more cost-effectively than ever before.

Officially launched at the “I Love APIs” conference in San Jose, the Jilia portal lets developers of all skill levels create customized “pathways” between all types of connected devices very quickly, using a single, simple API framework. Jilia is entirely brand- , platform- , and protocol-agnostic, meaning connected devices and apps developed with Jilia can communicate with all other devices, whether through Zigbee, Z-Wave, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Thread, or any existing wireless protocol.

“The introduction of Jilia fills what we perceived to be a serious shortcoming in the IoT landscape, specifically as it relates to APIs,” said CentraLite CTO John Calagaz. “The most challenging and expensive part of creating IoT devices is building a cloud-based infrastructure that can direct and link up thousands to millions of connected devices. Jilia provides these capabilities directly through a single API. Jilia is cost-effective and its scalability makes it an ideal solution for companies regardless of size.”

CentraLite’s Jilia is being launched in two stages. The initial stage is a portal that provides access to a “virtual sandbox” hub where developers can: (1) connect to virtual devices in the cloud as if they were sitting on their desk; (2) access the Jilia virtual gateway to the cloud; and, (3) virtually connect with and trigger actions in other devices. Stage Two is an enterprise solution that will include software, hardware, and a physical gateway with full functionality for testing the operational improvements and process efficiencies of physical devices.

Calagaz continued, “With Jilia, we are eliminating the difficult embedded layers of communication within an API interface. We let developers go from concept to proven product in just weeks, with or without hardware.”

The introduction should come as no surprise to observers who are noticing the transformation of CentraLite, a manufacturer of well-engineered, high-quality devices, to a full-fledged IoT solution provider. In fact, in April 2015, CentraLite became one of the first customers of Apigee Link, an API-driven IoT platform created to help device makers build out IoT ecosystems. And because CentraLite already develops and manufactures a wide range of connected devices (light switches, thermostats, door and motion sensors, lamp and appliance modules, water and moisture sensors, garage controls, chime and siren repeaters and life tags), the addition of Jilia favorably positions the company as a “one-stop-shop” for IoT solutions.

CentraLite believes the applications for Jilia are almost endless. Its simplicity, scalability and affordability provides IoT solutions in manufacturing, hospitality, health care, property management, and more – from global enterprise companies to startups.
