Physical, Virtual, and Cloud-Based Framework. Unitrends releases version 7.3..

Data protection is integral to a secure infrastructure. Unitrends provides physical, virtual, and cloud-based protection and recovery solutions for high-value company assets including data and applications.

According to Subo Guha, VP, product marketing and management, Unitrends, the company is the fastest growing in the data protection and disaster recovery industry, with 20 consecutive quarters of growth. In 2013, it reported a compound annual growth rate of 57 percent and more than 300 global employees, five offices in the U.S. and EMEA, and more than 10,000 customers.

Founded in 1989, Unitrends posted record year-over-year bookings for the past four years. It is a privately held company.

Multi-Environment
Unitrends provides a unique multi-environment framework of physical, virtual, and cloud-configured solutions. “Our flexible offerings craft a data recovery solution balance to best meet each organization’s needs. Physical appliances deliver an integrated backup, archiving, disaster recovery, and a shrink-wrapped package of software and hardware. The software virtual appliances are available for Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware Sphere virtualization environments and fully protect our customers’ physical infrastructures,” explains Guha.

The company also provides software solutions for customers who prefer to optimize virtualized environments with its PHD virtualization backup offerings. In addition, it provides a unique Disaster Recovery Test and Governance optimization capability with its ReliableDR offering.

In February, Unitrends introduced Unitrends Release 7.3, an enhanced version of its data protection software, a release in development for several years. “Since Unitrends utilizes an extremely agile process to develop its products, this release includes several new capabilities,” says Guha.

The latest version is the company’s response to the increasing need for small- to medium-sized enterprise customers to adopt a clear cloud strategy.

Seeing significant interest in the Cisco UCS adoption, Unitrends leveraged a unique protection schema to help customers quickly recover physical Windows systems as disaster recovery-as-a-service for private clouds and, in so doing, improve their recovery time objectives.

The launch of the release positions the company as the only data protection provider that currently offers meta-bare metal recovery for Cisco USC servers. This functionality helps maximize protection of Cisco USC servers, networks, and configuration data, enabling customers to restore USC fabrics more rapidly and intelligently.

Unitrends 7.3 also offers simplified deployment of Unitrends Enterprise Backup, expanded application and platform support, VMware vSphere template protection, and domain name server support for Linux and Mac OS X.

The solution targets small- to medium-sized enterprises whose financial and operational needs are most dramatically affected by rapid growth and changes in IT infrastructure.

Data Protected
With an all-in-one data protection solution that offers backup, archiving, and disaster recovery for protecting physical, virtual, cloud environments, or any combination thereof, Unitrends allows organizations to protect heterogeneous environments at a low cost of ownership. SW
