Prototype1 Announces Company Launch

05.01.2015

Prototype1, an Ohio-based custom development shop, today announced its company launch and mission to help clients build better software by reinventing the existing software development process.

Using high-fidelity prototypes to gather feedback on real user-experience, Prototype1’s process saves their clients time and money while building a better product that people really want to use.

The user comes first with Prototype1, who have created a process based on the founders’ extensive experience in software development, which focuses on understanding user needs and behavior, building and testing prototypes and delivering development-ready UX platforms and fully developed products that are evidence based rather than assumption-based.

Born out of the belief that the existing software development norms are broken and outdated, the Prototype1 process was tried and tested by founders Oleg Fridman and Dave Hurt while working together at ONOSYS. After Fridman and his two partners sold ONOSYS to LivingSocial in 2012, the co-founders decided to take their successful new development process to a new level, and started Prototype1.

Most competitors build software and iterate on that software. Prototype builds and iterates on prototypes – avoiding heavy code changes that waste time – then develops the software much more efficiently.

“With high-fidelity prototypes, clients are able to assess their product’s value by gathering better feedback from usability tests before making a huge investment into development. Knowing what to build is more important than knowing how to build it.” Oleg Fridman, Co-founder of Prototype1.

The process of building and testing a high-fidelity prototype is just as important as the prototype itself. To build a high quality prototype, Prototype1 researches, wireframes, and designs the user experience while soliciting feedback constantly. Once the prototype is complete, Prototype1 performs usability tests of the real user experience and modifies the prototype quickly based on feedback.

Prototype1 clients are able to fully navigate and use their product as if it were fully functioning, but without spending the time or money on back-end development. This gives their users and stakeholders the opportunity to provide feedback and make changes faster and at a lower cost, leaving more money to invest elsewhere.

“Our focus is on end-user needs and creating products they really want to use – not just what our client thinks the users want. Our process saves time and money because we begin gathering feedback very early on with a high-fidelity prototype, thus changes are much easier and less expensive to make.” Dave Hurt, co-founder of Prototype1.

Prototype1 develops and prototypes software for companies across the country, in all industries, with a focus on systems with complex workflows and user interactions as this is where high-fidelity prototypes really shine.

The Prototype1 team uses their wealth of experience in the software development field and the tried-and-tested Prototype1 process to guide their clients through all steps from planning to product completion. In addition to producing high quality custom designed and developed products, the team also offers clients support to boost their projects’ potential, product development coaching and launch planning.
